Welcome to Design and Modeling! In this course students discover the design process and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. They are then challenged and empowered to use and apply what they’ve learned throughout the unit to design a therapeutic toy for a child who has cerebral palsy.
File Management
Throughout the Design and Modeling Course, you will be creating and/or saving dozens of electronic files. It will be crucial for you to properly manage those files with both appropriate file names and with an organized filing structure. Files for Design and Modeling need to be completely separated from those for your other classes. Additionally, we will be creating a folder structure with subfolders to make files easy to locate when you need them. Your first assignment will be to research and learn about file management best practices and why they matter.

PLTW Digital Portfolio
As you progress through this course, you will be creating and documenting along the way. To track your progress and record your great work, you will be developing an on-going digital portfolio using Google Sites. The Google Sites platform will allow you to organize and share your documentation in a fun and creative way. Some of the items you post will be electronic documents that you create, while others will be screenshots and photos that you take of your work. Your first task for this class is to get your PLTW Digital Portfolio started and establish an organized and effective file management system. That way you can simply plug in your creations as you go. A great benefit of utilizing Google Sites is that it is integrated with your Google Drive so inserting your files on your Portfolio will be seamless and simple. This Portfolio is yours. Be creative and add your style. However, pay close attention to organization and ease of navigation through the content.
